This gallery is intentionally styled as a living room and library, to create a space of warmth, comfort and togetherness.
- For Tan Sri Yeoh Tiong Lay, togetherness was not just unity, but strength in relationship. This is evident in his marriage with Puan Sri Kai Yong, as well as in business.
- Because of the harmony between the family generations, he was able to entrust leadership to his children, and now, grandchildren.
On one side of the wall, you will notice a quote, one that Puan Sri Kai Yong often used on her children and grandchildren, which goes:
“A single chopstick is easily broken, but a bundle of chopsticks is not.”
- And at the heart of the room is the chopstick table which symbolises Puan Sri Kai Yong’s metaphor.
- There are nine “chopsticks” supporting the table’s weight, representing Tan Sri, Puan Sri and their seven children.
- She often used this image to teach her children and grandchildren the importance of strength and unity from young.
- You will also notice a unique brick display with handwritten messages contributed by different employees written at Tan Sri Yeoh Tiong Lay’s memorial in 2017.
- On the TV screen, you will see scenes that capture moments of togetherness in YTL throughout the years.
- Next to this gallery is the Togetherness Lounge, created as an open space like what we have in all our YTL hotels. Feel free to sit around and relax.
