Welcome

Welcome to the YTL Museum.

01

You’re standing on the very ground where the story of YTL began.

  • This is decades before the formal founding of the Yeoh Tiong Lay Construction Company in 1955.
  • Our story begins in the 1920s. Yeoh Cheng Liam, who is Tan Sri Yeoh Tiong Lay’s father, left his homeland Kinmen, to Malaya in search of new opportunities.
  • His journey began in Klang, but he would eventually settle down in Kuala Selangor, where he and his wife, Ng Kim Sik, built a business and a family.
  • Take a walk upfront and you can see the busts of Yeoh Cheng Liam and his wife, as well as a wide view of the site that has been home to generations of the Yeoh family.

Back in the 1920s, this was originally a modest wooden house on stilts.

  • This was where young Tan Sri Yeoh Tiong Lay grew up with his seven siblings.
  • Later in the 1950s to 1960s, following Tan Sri Yeoh Tiong Lay’s marriage to Puan Sri Tan Kai Yong, they would continue to share the rest of the house with his parents and siblings’ families. They would also raise their seven children, the current Board of Directors of the YTL Group, in just one room of this house.
  • In 2001, Tan Sri Yeoh rebuilt this house to provide a more comfortable home for his mother, Ng Kim Sik. She lived here until her passing in 2004.

In 2025, this beloved home was once again transformed, now into the YTL Museum, built to honour the legacy of the Yeoh family and the values they hold dear.

  • As you tour the museum, you will discover the foundational values that are the DNA of YTL: Hard Work, Honesty, Moral Responsibility, Togetherness, and Vitality.
  • You will witness how these values were lived, modelled, passed down, and built into the fabric of the company until today.

Get ready to step into the very heart of YTL. You may now enter the front door of the museum.
